Protecting the "Last Mile" Workforce

As AI transforms the economy, we advocate for the individuals and small businesses who are most affected by the transition. Our goal is to ensure that the "Last Mile" of AI deployment is equitable, safe, and empowering.

Data Dignity for SMBs

We lobby for rights regarding how small business data is used to train larger models. Your business's expertise and localized knowledge shouldn't be extracted without your consent or compensation. We believe in a future where SMBs own their digital footprint.

AI Safety Nets & Labor Impact

We conduct research on how AI impacts local labor markets. Our goal is to ensure the "last mile" workforce—the delivery drivers, the technicians, and the front-office staff—is augmented by AI, not just replaced by it. We advocate for policies that provide retraining and support for those in transition.

Open Standards for Access

We advocate for the adoption of open-source models and Standardized Data Connectors to prevent vendor lock-in. Small businesses should have the freedom to move their data between different AI providers without technical barriers.

Privacy as a Human Right

In partnership with our Trust & Security team, we advocate for "Privacy by Default." This includes support for local-first AI and transparency requirements for how public models handle sensitive user data.

"The 'Last Mile' is about more than just technology—it's about the people and businesses that form the backbone of our economy. We are here to ensure they have a seat at the table."
